Doyle Kicks Off Campaign for State Treasurer

Pledging to usher in a climate of fiscal responsibility and a commitment to economic development, Mark Doyle on Monday formally announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Illinois State Treasurer.

“I am running for State Treasurer because we need leadership and focus on our number one priority in this state: putting people back to work.  My business and government experience give me a skill set that I believe is needed more than ever in Illinois,” Doyle said.

Doyle, 52, owns Rmetrics, a forensic accounting firm, and Prairie Avenue Advisors, a business consulting firm. Rmetrics helps find money owed to private and government entities, including cases of theft or bankruptcy.

He spent five years working in President Clinton’s White House as deputy director of personnel, and also traveled full time with Vice President Joe Biden during his Presidential bid and Vice-Presidential General Election.

“As I travel across Illinois, I hear the same story in every county -- people are worried about losing their jobs, and all that accompanies the loss of one,” stated Doyle.

“The Treasurer’s first priority is to protect the investments of the state, but it also has the capacity to be a real catalyst for economic growth and development.  We need to get Illinois back to work,” he said.

Doyle also pledged to:

  • Engage the Illinois banks who received stimulus funding to ensure that money is being used for its intended purpose.
  • Work with the State Comptroller and the Department of Revenue to be more aggressive on collecting the $5 billion in delinquent receivables owed to the State.
  • Create a small “blue ribbon” panel of financial experts from the public and private equity markets, agricultural sector and business owners to develop new, innovative ways to create access to capital across the state.

Doyle promised to run an issues-oriented campaign that will stress job creation, innovation and a sense of urgency about putting people back to work in every corner of the state.
